The Silicon Valley Business Journal recently daylighted Morgan Hill’s residential construction boom:
“Morgan Hill’s residential pipeline has surpassed 3,000 units, one of the largest growth cycles in the city’s history, as the city pushes to become a more economically self-sustaining market, according to city data. Much of the development is concentrated in north Morgan Hill, where projects are closing the gap with San Jose and reshaping land use and density, city officials said. Officials and developers said the mix of projects reflects sustained demand for more attainable housing in Santa Clara County, while raising new questions about infrastructure and long-term planning.”
Set to debut in Silicon Valley, The MOHI by Appellation will be a 76-room hotel offering thoughtful dining, a lush pool oasis and spa, and standout wedding and event venues to the emerging food and wine destination of Morgan Hill. True to Appellation’s food-first ethos and the rich culinary abundance of Morgan Hill, The MOHI by Appellation will introduce a dynamic collection of four food and beverage concepts, each offering a distinct experience while collectively shaping the hotel’s social and cultural energy. Rooted in local sourcing and seasonal expression, the hotel’s lineup of unique bars and restaurants, is designed to draw both guests and locals alike, positioning the hotel as the hub for Morgan Hill’s next chapter.
Morgan Hill defines opportunity in practical terms: access to stable employment, attainable housing, education, entrepreneurship, and a community where residents feel represented. The City’s broader objective is to maintain a balanced local economy—aligning jobs, housing, and essential services to sustain long-term quality of life.
That objective is being advanced through ELEVATE Morgan Hill, the City’s Economic Mobility Plan. ELEVATE focuses on building clearer pathways to economic stability by connecting residents to local jobs and skill-building opportunities, expanding access to housing information and assistance programs, and increasing meaningful community engagement in local decision-making. Although the initiative serves the entire community, particular emphasis is being placed on improving access and outcomes for Spanish-speaking residents, who data show encounter disproportionate barriers to economic mobility.
The effort is led by the City’s Economic Opportunity Program Officer. The role centers on implementing data-driven, community-informed strategies, with prior experience spanning worker-owned cooperatives, entrepreneurship development, and intergenerational wealth initiatives.
The City, in collaboration with Project Sentinel, is offering a free virtual workshop on Fair Housing laws for both renters and property owners. The workshop will be available in both English and Spanish.
This workshop will provide helpful information on rights, responsibilities, and protections under Fair Housing laws. Please feel free to share this invitation with friends, family, and anyone who may be interested.
