By Brittney Sherman

Approximately 20% of the 2024 Olympic athletes hailed from California, the largest representation of athletes from any state. A total of 22 medals, six of them gold, were won by California athletes. In January 2023, Assembly Bill 2747 went into effect, supporting Olympic hopefuls by offering in-state tuition for U.S. Olympians and Paralympians wanting to train in the golden state. The state of California will continue its support of the games as Los Angeles takes the torch as the host City of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic games in 2028.
