America turns 250 years old this year and retail brands are joining the party by offering patriotic-themed products. Food and beverage brands in particular are rolling out limited-time flavors and packaging to promote brand awareness, create a personal connection to customers, and secure a non-traditional placement within big box stores. The Morgan Hill Freedom Fest Parade will celebrate its 151st year in 2026, holding the record for the longest consecutive running parade in Northern California. Take part in the festivities by coming Downtown Morgan Hill on July 3rd for the Patriotic Sing and Family Music Fest. Come back on July 4th to get your blood pumping during the Freedom Run and your flags waving during the Cruise and Car Show and Parade. Finish out the day with live music and a fireworks show at the Outdoor Sports Complex.

Billions expected in Father's day purchases

The National Retail Federation estimates that approximately $27.9 billion dollars will be spent on Father’s Day purchases this year, a $3.9 billion dollar increase over 2025. The average customer is expected to spend $226 with top purchases being experiences, cards and clothing, with electronics and personal services following closely behind.

This season, every purchase at participating Morgan Hill businesses earns you a sticker for your passport—and every sticker is a raffle entry for exciting prizes. Pick up a passport at any participating business, Chamber of Commerce, or City Hall. Then shop local, collect stickers, and turn it in by December 31 at 11:59 PM for your chance to win. A rose is just a rose; except on Valentine's Day!

Consumers are expected to spend an average of $188 each on Valentine’s Day purchases this year, according to a survey published by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics. Top gifts include candy, flowers, cards, an evening out, and jewelry, which are all expected to result in $25.7B in sales.

FUN FACT: According to the Society of American Florists, 83% of flowers purchased for Valentine’s Day in 2022 were roses; 2/3 of which were red. Approximately 1B roses will be imported into the United States, mostly from South America, to support the high demand for Valentine’s Day.
