Residential pipeline surpasses 3,000 units

The Silicon Valley Business Journal recently daylighted Morgan Hill’s residential construction boom:

“Morgan Hill’s residential pipeline has surpassed 3,000 units, one of the largest growth cycles in the city’s history, as the city pushes to become a more economically self-sustaining market, according to city data. Much of the development is concentrated in north Morgan Hill, where projects are closing the gap with San Jose and reshaping land use and density, city officials said. Officials and developers said the mix of projects reflects sustained demand for more attainable housing in Santa Clara County, while raising new questions about infrastructure and long-term planning.”

Morgan Hill to host Nationwide Conference on Economic Mobility

Representatives from 15 local governments nationwide, ranging from Arizona to Maryland, will convene in Morgan Hill at the end of January as part of the International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) 2024 Economic Mobility Cohort. ICMA is the leading organization of local government professionals dedicated to creating and sustaining thriving communities throughout the world.

Morgan Hill hires a Housing and Economic Mobility Director

A diverse offering of housing and economic mobility support for low-income and Spanish-speaking Community members, are top priorities for Morgan Hill. As such, the City of Morgan Hill is pleased to announce the appointment of John Lang as its new Housing and Economic Mobility Director. Lang holds three master’s degrees in economics, public administration, and urban planning, bringing 25 years of public service experience serving in previous roles such as Economic Vitality Manager for Mountain View, Economic Development Manager for Morgan Hill, and Chief Economist for San Jose.

HCD approves Morgan Hill Housing Element

HCD approves Morgan Hill Housing Element

By achieving certification from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), Morgan Hill has demonstrated its commitment to fulfilling its obligations under state law to create an inclusive and equitable living environment. The Housing Element is a critical component of Morgan Hill’s General Plan to address the housing challenges in the region. It outlines a comprehensive strategy for accommodating the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) and ensuring an adequate supply of affordable housing within the City over the next eight years. The certified Housing Element enables Morgan Hill to maintain local control over land-use decisions and to exercise discretion when reviewing development projects.
