In Brief: Lightpost Winery

Morgan Hill is one of the oldest wine regions in California.  There are many wineries in the region but only one winery can call the City of Morgan Hill it’s home and that is Lightpost Winery.

Lightpost Winery is a small family run winery owned and operated by Sofia Zedotova and John Mauro, the tasting room is located at 900 Lightpost Way in Morgan Hill.  In a short period of time it has made a name for itself in the wine industry by wining many awards for its wine.

The Economic Development Team sat down with Sofia Zedotova to find out more about LightPost Winery.

How long has LightPost Winery been open?

We opened our doors to the public only 5 months ago.  However, we have been working on the idea of opening a winery since 2016.  Both my husband and I have a passion for wine and decided to take a chance and start fresh in a new industry.

How did you prepare for your new venture?

Both my husband and I educated ourselves in the wine industry.  I obtained a certificate in Viticulture & Enology from UC Davis, a renowned school for aspiring wine makers.

What’s types of wine do you specialize in?
We specialize in Rhone, Bordeaux and some Spanish varietals.

Where do your grow your grapes?

We purchase our grapes only the best vineyards in the Central Coast, St. Lucia highlands, Paso Robles, Edna Valley and Arroyo Grande wine regions.
