Does your business qualify for a tax credit?

For the 2026-2027 fiscal year, a total of $819.8M in California Competes Tax Credits are available for allocation to businesses of all sizes and industry. For this upcoming round, opening on July 20, 2026, $350M in tax credits will be available and businesses within the “strengthen” and “accelerate” sector categories as outlined in the California Jobs First Economic Blueprint will be given special consideration. The California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC) is an income tax credit available to businesses that want to locate in California or stay and grow in California. Businesses of any industry, size, or location compete for over $180 million available in tax credits by applying in one of the three application periods each year. Applicants will be analyzed based on fourteen different factors of evaluation, including number of full-time jobs being created, amount of investment, and strategic importance to the state or region. The City of Morgan Hill is proud to announce that Assistant City Manager Edith Ramirez has been recognized as one of Assembly District 28’s Women of the Year by Assemblymember Gail Pellerin. This prestigious honor highlights Ramirez’s exceptional leadership, dedication to public service, and unwavering commitment to the Morgan Hill community. Ramirez joins 12 other distinguished women from across the district in being celebrated for their significant contributions to their communities.

City Councilmember honored as Woman of the Year

The California State Senate recognized Morgan Hill Mayor Pro Tem Yvonne Martínez Beltrán as Woman of the Year 2025 for Senate District 15 in a special ceremony on the Senate floor on Monday, March 10, 2025. Senator Dave Cortese selected Councilwoman Martínez Beltrán for this honor, acknowledging her dedication to public service, leadership, and commitment to the Community.

Representatives from 15 local governments nationwide, ranging from Arizona to Maryland, will convene in Morgan Hill at the end of January as part of the International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) 2024 Economic Mobility Cohort. ICMA is the leading organization of local government professionals dedicated to creating and sustaining thriving communities throughout the world.

Morgan Hill hires a Housing and Economic Mobility Director

A diverse offering of housing and economic mobility support for low-income and Spanish-speaking Community members, are top priorities for Morgan Hill. As such, the City of Morgan Hill is pleased to announce the appointment of John Lang as its new Housing and Economic Mobility Director. Lang holds three master’s degrees in economics, public administration, and urban planning, bringing 25 years of public service experience serving in previous roles such as Economic Vitality Manager for Mountain View, Economic Development Manager for Morgan Hill, and Chief Economist for San Jose.
