Morgan Hill’s reputation as the Bay Area’s “mushroom capital” continues to grow with Sempera Organics’ new 60,000-square-foot production facility at 18400 Sutter Blvd. The biotech company, now one of the largest U.S. producers of functional mushroom ingredients, celebrated the opening with city officials and community leaders.
Founder and CEO Nirmal Nair said the larger site boosts monthly output capacity from 15 to 30 metric tons, enabling consistent large-scale production. He launched Sempera to address problems in the U.S. food system, seeking natural, immunity-boosting alternatives inspired by Asian practices that gained attention during the pandemic.
